Compare your annual fuel spend against charging a 115E. Adjust the numbers to match how you boat.
Fuel and energy costs only — excludes oil, winterisation, and engine maintenance, where electric typically saves further. Defaults compare both drives doing the same work over 1,000 hours a year, a commercial reference: ~5 gal/hr for a 115hp fuel outboard, which is about 38kW at the propeller, and ~42kW drawn from the battery for the 115E. Charging efficiency of 88% is measured from the meter to the battery and includes the charger and on-board loads, so each hour on the water uses about 48kWh from the grid. The saving depends on how you charge: public DC fast charging costs about three times as much as the electricity price shown. Without a zip code the calculator starts from $6.00/gal at the fuel dock and $4.00/gal at the road pump. With a zip code it loads statewide averages, AAA road fuel (July 2026) and EIA residential electricity (March 2026), and adds $1.60/gal at the fuel dock — posted dock prices sampled in July 2026 ran $1.20/gal above road averages on Long Island Sound and $1.94/gal above on Florida's Gulf Coast. Marina shore power and commercial or time-of-use rates are often below the residential average shown. Edit any field to match your actual costs. Estimates, not quotes.
